Dear Courtenay Animal Hospital Community,

We anticipate remaining OPEN during our normal business hours (even if non-essential business close), as animal health care will be an ongoing need.

However, due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking precautionary measures to help protect public health and mitigate risk to our employees.

Starting March 23, 2020, we can no longer allow clients inside the hospital building.  We will still provide the same level of service for your pets but will ask you to hand off your pet to one of our staff members for care.

Upon arrival, please remain in your car and call the clinic at 321-452-3647, to let us know that you have arrived for your appointment.  Once we are ready for your pet, one of our friendly technicians will come out to greet you and escort you to our entryway, to ensure that you can safely transition your pet.  We will then ask that you return to your vehicle and wait while our doctors perform their examinations.  Once the exam has been completed, we will call you to discuss the details of the exam and discuss any treatments or diagnostics that may need to be done. If you do not have a cell phone or the ability to call from your vehicle, please come knock on the door and let our receptionist know you are here.

We will also allow drop-offs on an as-needed basis

We ask that anyone experiencing clinical signs of illness, particularly a cough and/or fever, reschedule your appointment after at least 2 weeks, use our telemedicine service, or have someone else bring your pet to an appointment.  If it is a medical emergency, please call us on your way and let us know you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and we will do our best to care for you and your pet while maintaining social distancing.

If you have traveled internationally or on a cruise within the last 14 days, or have been exposed to a known COVID-19 positive person, we ask that you please respect the same guidelines, even in the absence of clinical illness.

Medication refills and Prescription diets:

If you need a refill of your pets’ medication or food, we ask that you please call ahead to allow us appropriate time to obtain an authorization from the doctors and prepare your pets’ medication and/or food. If you do not call ahead, you will be asked to wait in your vehicle until the prescription is filled. Once your prescription refill and/or food is ready, we will give you a call to let you know when you can pick up.  We ask that you remain in your vehicle and call us at 321-452-3647 to let us know you are here and one of our receptionists will bring your medication and/or food out to you and collect payment.  Credit card payments over the phone are preferred.

It is recommended that you have on hand at least a month’s supply of medication and food for your pet in the unanticipated event that our hospital has to close.

Lastly, we want to remind all of you that we are trying to do our very best to stay open for as long as we can to provide care for your beloved pets, as this is all new to all of us.  We assure you that we will continue to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 as more information becomes available and we will re-evaluate our situation as well as provide updates as to how it may affect our clients and our hospital.
