Dear Courtenay Animal Hospital Community,
***Starting Monday, April 26, one (masked) client may accompany pets inside! ***
We will continue to monitor current CDC guidelines to keep our employees and other clients as safe as possible. The details are below.
If there are too many rules for you, that’s okay! We will continue to provide curbside service for families who are not comfortable with our accompaniment policies or are hesitant to increase personal risk.
🐾 If you do want to come inside, call us on arrival and wait in your car until a staff member can escort you directly into an exam room with your pet.
🐾 At the end of the appointment, a staff member will escort each client out the back door to avoid congestion at the front door.
🐾 Each appointment can be attended by ONE family member. Our exam rooms are small and do not allow us to be 6 feet apart.
The exception is end-of-life care, during which two family members may come inside.
🐾 All clients entering the building must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth throughout the entire visit, even when no one else is in the exam room, as our ventilation system supplies all areas of the hospital.
🐾 Masks will be required regardless of COVID-19 vaccine status. Many of our staff members have been fully vaccinated but all employees will remain masked at all times.
🐾 If you forget your mask, we can supply one for you.
🐾 If you have health conditions that prevent you from wearing a mask at all times, you may remain curbside for your appointments until the CDC guidelines have changed.
🐾 Our staff will restrain all pets during exams.
Owners will be in the room with us but it is impossible to maintain social distancing between humans when one is holding a pet and the other is examining, drawing blood, giving vaccines, etc.
🐾 If a pet is sick or injured and needs extensive treatment or diagnostic tests such as x-rays or lab work, we will request that you wait back in your car or drop them off until they are ready to go home. This will allow us to keep everyone safe and remain efficient.
🐾 Clients who are simply picking up medications or food will continue to remain curbside and a staff member will bring your items out to you.
🐾 Please bear in mind that this modified system will be new for all of us. We are trying our best to give you peace of mind during vet visits and still keep everyone safe!
